Tertiary institutions are both instruments of social change and of higher learning. In the new global knowledge-based society, the role and nature of post secondary education in this new economic dispensation is unquestionable. Revisiting Tertiary Education Policy in Jamaica: Towards Personal Gain or Public Good? examines the contextual issues in higher education in Jamaica relative to wider societal, political and economic forces and brings into greater relief an understanding of the forces currently influencing education policy.
