ISLAND RELIQUARIES- Voices from a Jamaican Past - brings to light the hidden histories of the Jamaican landscape, whether they are of inhabitants past or present, found objects or sites of island heritage. The poems, juxtaposed with a photographic or painted image - re-create, in memoirist tradition, true moments from the island’s often conflicted past. Deeply grounded historical research and oral histories as well as highly attuned sensibility inform and reveal the many layered, generative experience and the trans-cultural foundation of contemporary Jamaica.
