Part one of the book looks at adaptations and extracts from earlier critics, including comments on the play spanning the years since Shakespeare's day including such critics as Dryden, Davenan, Johnson, Coleridge, Hazlitt, James and Auden. Part two of the book looks at more recent studies including commentary by Fielder, Yates, Griffiths, Barker and Hulme. The book is designed specifically for undergraduate students of English and drama and for A-level students of these subjects.
