Edward A. Goodall was the official artist accompanying the 1841-43 Guyana Boundary Expedition to British Guiana. There he made a large number of sketches both botanical and of the Ameridian Tribes. Goodall's fame as an artist grew after his trip and his first oil painting was a Guyana subject that was hung at the Royal Academy.
